The March meeting of FMburgh, the Pittsburgh FileMaker Developer Group, took place on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 6:30 PM EST in a hybrid format with both in-person and remote attendees.
The agenda for the evening included a roundtable discussion centered around the topic Forgotten Functions. When building a FileMaker solution, we all have a subset of calculation functions we use on a regular basis. However, we inevitably encounter a problem or two in every database that require a less common function in order to solve. This meeting was devoted to those functions that have bailed us out of a jam. These functions are not forgotten in the sense they are no longer listed in the Claris FileMaker Help. However, they do require a refresher as to how they work (and the fact they even exist). There was a lot great discussion as the attendees shared functions that were “forgotten” until they provided the exact answer that was needed.
As is our custom, we opened the floor to general FileMaker discussion at the end of the meeting. We also did our best to provide answers to the questions that were posed to the group.
