The June 2020 meeting of FMburgh, the Pittsburgh FileMaker Developer Group, took place on Wednesday, June 3. With the travel restrictions related to COVID-19 still in place, the decision was made to again hold our meeting in an online-only format.
At the end of May, Claris International, Inc. announced the release of Claris FileMaker 19, the last annual release of the platform as Claris switches to a more frequent release cycle. Claris FileMaker 19 is Claris’ first open platform, allowing developers to extend the platform with shareable add-ons, making it even faster for anyone to build modern apps. FileMaker has always enabled developers, at all skill levels, create custom apps to improve their workplaces. Now, developers can extend the platform using AI and JavaScript and even package their work as plug-and-play add-ons others can use. The presentation for the meeting included new material exploring all that is new about Claris FileMaker 19.
Following the presentation, we opened the floor to general FileMaker discussion and questions. Luckily, with a virtual room full of FileMaker experts, we had the answers.
