After taking a well-deserved summer break, the Cross IT team is back in the kitchen, working on new content for our Wednesday Lunch & Learn series of webinars. For October, the webinars cover several disciplines that we use all of the time, and we want to pass along our knowledge in the hope that it helps you out, too.
Before we get to the Lunch & Learns, the second Wednesday evening of October brings the monthly meeting of FMburgh, the Pittsburgh FileMaker Developer Group. As part of our ninth anniversary celebration, we welcome Dave Ramsey to the virtual podium. Dave will present a zero-to-sixty presentation on FMPerception and the forthcoming FMComparison from Proof+Geist. FMPerception is a fast, easy-to-use tool for FileMaker developers that accelerates your work, and allows you to make changes to large, complex systems with confidence that you know what will be affected. FMComparison (currently in beta) is a new tool that allows you to quickly and easily identify all the changes between two versions of your database. He’ll discuss not just how to to use FMComparison, but when and why to use it. For more information and/or to register for the event, please click here.
On October 20, we present our Lunch & Learn: Entrée. In this webinar for current FileMaker users seeking a better understanding of the platform, we will sink our teeth into the Let ( ) function. It is a powerful function that we consider indispensable in our own FileMaker development. We’ll cover the function in detail and get you up-to-speed so you can begin using it your own development. On the last Wednesday of October, we present Lunch & Learn: Á La Carte. This is an open table webinar where we serve solutions to your FileMaker problems. The goal is to help intermediate developers improve theirs skills by diving deep into the topic of the day. We’ve recently fielded some questions regarding Claris FileMaker Server and its Command Line Interface (CLI). While we can’t cover everything during our time together, we will highlight the most commonly used commands and those that have served us well. Click here to order from our Á La Carte menu. As with the previous Lunch & Learn, you can also click here to register for the webinar and add a reminder to your calendar for October 27.
There is the summary of our October events, dare I say, in a nutshell. Also, to never risk missing the newest Lunch & Learn webinar or the latest FMburgh recording, please subscribe to our YouTube channel and turn on notifications.
