FMburgh Survey Results for November 2020

During the month of November, we asked the attendees of FMburgh (the Pittsburgh FileMaker Developer Group) and the larger Claris FileMaker community a few questions to understand how they use FileMaker and its many features. We also asked what side dishes are a part of everyone’s Thanksgiving celebration. We found out that FileMaker Developers LOVE mashed potatoes. The answers revealed at the December 2020 meeting of FMburgh are outlined below.

Q1) As Claris FileMaker Cloud continues to evolve and become easier to deploy and use, what is your view of FileMaker Cloud for hosting a solution?

14.29% – I already have solutions running in FileMaker Cloud.
00.00% – I am making plans to move my existing FileMaker Cloud for AWS solutions to the new FileMaker Cloud.
14.29% – I am thinking about moving my on-premise solutions to FileMaker Cloud.
00.00% – I love it but still need to convince the bosses that we should switch.
57.14% – My company still wants to see the servers where their data lives.
14.29% – It’s hard to justify a move at this time due to the cost.

Q2) When building a new Claris FileMaker solution (single file or multiple files), your development…

0.00% – Always includes layouts and processes optimized for FileMaker Go.
37.50% – Regularly includes optimization for access by FileMaker Go clients.
25.00% – Seldom includes layouts and processes optimized for FileMaker Go.
25.00% – Never includes optimization for FileMaker Go clients.
12.50% – Is limited since the client is still running FileMaker 6 and wants something that will run on Palm OS.
