Todd Speaks at Claris Engage 2024

The first week of February marked the return of the premier in-person event for users and especially developers who work with the Claris Platform. Approximately 600 individuals gathered in Austin, TX at the Apple Campus to share ideas, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones. There were opportunities to hear from Claris leadership, network with colleagues, talk with vendors, and attend over 50 sessions during our three days together. I was honored with the opportunity to present two of the breakout sessions.

On Tuesday afternoon, I delivered the case study Back to School with Claris. Claris FileMaker has always had a place in education. With the additions of Claris Connect and Claris Studio to the platform, there are more opportunities for integration and automation within the K-12 space.

During the session, we explored how a western Pennsylvania school district revolutionizes education using the entire Claris Platform. With a custom operational app built using Claris FileMaker, they streamline student record management and allow for efficient iPad distribution. Claris Connect orchestrates seamless data flows between systems like Skyward and Apple School Manager, while Claris Studio digitizes traditional paper forms. To view this presentation, click here.

On Wednesday morning, I presented a general session Get ( What’sNew ). In the dynamic world of Claris FileMaker, innovation is constant. With each release, the Claris product team relentlessly pushes boundaries, introducing fresh functions, script steps, and layout objects to the Claris FileMaker platform. For even the most seasoned FileMaker developers, staying abreast of these innovations while maintaining existing solutions for a diverse group of clients can be a formidable task.

This session was tailored to highlight these new features in this ever-evolving landscape. Starting with the most recent release and working backward, we dissected as many new features as the time allowed. While we did not delve into every setting and option, attendees gained an understanding of the powerful tools now at our disposal, equipping us to tackle any challenge we encounter. Did we cover 30 different features during the session? Click here to watch the recording and find out.

These two sessions, along with the other outstanding presentations delivered by industry leaders from around the world, are now available via the Claris Community website under the Claris Academy banner. The videos are broken down into 10 different categories, including AI, Business, Development, and Integration to name a few. A select number of sessions can also be found on the Claris YouTube channel.

I am thankful for the opportunity to present both of these sessions and share my knowledge with the larger Claris community. I had fun preparing both presentations and I hope you find them enjoyable and enlightening. If you have any questions as you watch the recordings, please do not hesitate to reach out.

I had a great time in Austin, and I am already looking forward to the next Claris Engage. Hopefully, I’ll see you there.

Until next time,

TW
